I learned something today in my Com 101 class. Creativity can be expressed in a group, but I personally believe it's better solo. A group constrains. It creates a person who has to lead and the rest, who can still equally input ideas and opinions, to trail, thus leaving the final content to their captain. This is not a good path to keep following. True creativity should be original, and start and end with one person. Groups of people, even friends can come and go, input, output, and help it come along, but it should be helmed by the creator... right? Needless to say I loathe group projects.... so many kids are embedded into a safe, in-the-box mindset that nothing new can get past them. They wont let it. Rather than rant, we'll leave it at that. In elementary school, through my life, I hate group work Someone's either lazy, doing all the work, leading without remorse, etc..... Group work weakens the mind. Personally speaking.
After class I got out and went to Meijer to grab the buy one get one deals they had running on organic juices. I also couldn't resist the desires I had for frosted dough, so I went into the bakery and just stared at 'em. Lined equally even, all staring at me. Free will was given to us by God, and we utilize the truth of that in everyday life, from where to move, what college to attend, all the way down to which doughnut to take. I had a Boston Creme. No creme in it. Shame Meijer. Shame shame.......
For the next two hours I rode around from Jenison all the way to Woodland Mall and beyond, hitting different thrift stores for costume pieces for the soon to come Halloween parties I have. I procrastinated on this big time. I went to six different stores today, only finding the treasures at one location. I'll return tomorrow. Went home and re-arranged the room. Hardcore. Threw out old things, narrowed down furniture, got a wooden rug, it's very me. I spent a good portion of the afternoon doing this.
Lastly, it's that Tuesday night again, so out with the drive to Holland for LIB 310. We had a guest teacher tonight, Dr. Lane, or "The Old Man" as he insists you call him. He spent time showing us how to come up with ideas, market them, design them, and sell them. He had more energy and spunk than me. The ladder of the design and marketing was done in groups, but the idea portion, came from the students. Each one of us, which is the way I like it, which makes the monogamous mark on the creativity check list.
