For a city that has been prepping for a fierce winter, we still have no snow, and today was not even that cold. Wet ground from some rain and, well keyword rain.... liquid that has fallen from the freezing sky and still not frozen....
Church was great, I got more dressed up than I usually do. After the service I rode back home with Melissa and we hung out my house for my birthday gathering. Grandparents brought Jet's Pizza, and within the hour, we were eating, talking, and having some merriment. It was good to see the family together again, under the roof. Gifts were great, and I am very thankful, and the cake and ice cream were nice touches as well. Actually, scratch that, those are critical..... not nice touches.
After the cake we started watching old movies I did in high school and earlier, and even dug into my precious memories box and went through my "portfolio" of drawings, books, etc. My mother has kept all of this, and I am also thankful. After the partygoers left, Melissa and I went downtown to see a Christmas chorale concert in the beautiful Park's Church. Ended the night with Tanya and Chad, watching Dexter and playing more Modnation Racers.
On a different note, being in this church and listening the to Latin originated hymns made me think about my great grandpa who passed away in 2005. For some odd reason, the music triggered a memory to come back into my head. It was the last thing my great grandfather said to me. He told me that I'd be fine, that I would grow up to be a good looking man and marry a pretty girl, be successful, and help others around me. I believe him to be right, and I want to make sure I'm living my my life in a way that will get me on that road. I reflected on this the rest of the concert.......and still am right now.
